In this masterclass we'll explore playing with form and structure in playwriting. Beginning with linear narratives and traditional structure, we will learn the basic rules of narrative before exploring the different ways that form can be disrupted. We will examine the difference between closed and open uses of time and space as well as more abstract employments of the form. I will be using my upcoming play, The Houseguest, as an example, which uses a rare closed time, open space structure.
