Crouch End Festival Chorus, led by David Temple and joined by renowned soloists and ensemble, presents the world premiere of Robin Haigh's Tearfloods: Homage to Miyazaki, and Orff's Carmina Burana at Cadogan Hall in a thrilling choral concert.

Robin Haigh, bold and original, writes pieces of "scintillating unpredictability" (Tom Service, BBC Radio 3). In this 'sea symphony' Tearfloods: Homage to Miyazaki, for Crouch End Festival Chorus, he has imagined "an alternate reality in which every tear that has ever been cried eventually flowed down beneath the earth, forming an immense and secret underground sea". The choir's words echo through the cavernous expanse of the work's imaginary ocean as they depict the voyage of a solitary figure across these ever-changing waters.

Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, with the famous 'O Fortuna', is one of the world's best-known choral works. In this version, two pianos and a rich spread of percussion take the role of the orchestra. The work is a delicious mix of innocence and bawdiness, and this performance promises an exhilarating ride, including the screeches of a roasting swan and the pleasures and perils of drinking, gambling and lust.
