The music this evening brings together four distinctive voices in European jazz. Paulo Morello (who is based in Germany, where he is Professor of Jazz Guitar and Artistic Director at the Jazz Institute Berlin) includes work with the likes of Randy Brecker, Larry Coryell, Jimmy Smith, Bob Mintzer, Billy Cobham and Pat Martino on a vast and impressive cv, as well as guitarist Jim Mullen, with whom he's appeared at the 606 on several previous occasions! Paulo's playing is marked by melodic sophistication, expressive depth and rhythmic subtlety, combining modern jazz language with a blues feeling and joyful Brazilian colour. Joining Paulo tonight will be the trio of renowned British pianist Leon Greening, featuring Adam King-bass and Steve Brown-drums. Leon is admired for his deep connection to the jazz tradition, his powerful swing and his unmistakable blues-infused touch. In this special collaboration, original music from Paulo's latest album "Moving" meets the timeless spirit of jazz classics.
