Steve Fishwick is widely considered to be one of the leading jazz trumpet players in Europe, rapidly gaining a global reputation thanks to his flawless technique and beautifully flowing, harmonically rich improvisations. He has performed in Europe, China and Peru as well as numerous times in NYC, and his outstanding CV includes work with iconic musicians such as Cedar Walton, Peter Washington, Hod O' Brien, Ron Carter and Anita O' Day. A committed jazz educator, he also holds positions in five UK conservatoires. Steve's special guest tonight is US bassist Leighton Harrell. Since moving to New York, he has been heard with many leading artists and bands, including Louis Hayes, Sullivan Fortner, Michael Kanan and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and is currently a member of award-winning trumpeter Jeremy Pelt's Quintet. Jeremy is a friend of Steve's and therefore Steve met Leighton when he went to see Jeremy's band. He was so impressed, he asked Leighton to let him know next time he was in London so they could do a gig together...and this is that gig. The music will be hard bop, accessible swinging tunes from the classic jazz repertoire with perhaps a couple of originals in the same style. A unique combination of world class talents and not to be missed.
