Relay

Venue: Theatre503
Date: 27–28/06/2025
Type: Theatre

Following her sell-out debut at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe with Composition (‘an eye-catching introduction to a comic of promise’ – The Guardian) Writer and multi-disciplinary rebel Leila Navabi’s latest show, Relay, takes the audience along for the ride as she and her partner make a baby at home with their gay best friend’s sperm, just months after being told that Leila was ‘likely infertile’ at 24 years old. Navabi’s latest musical comedy delves into love, inequality, ambition and perhaps most importantly of all, the joy and chaos that comes from building a family on your own terms. Joyful, absurd and profound, Relay is the tender and sincere true story about Navabi making her first steps onto the path to parenthood that proves families are not just what we make them, but how we make them. RELAY is the Welsh representative of the Pleasance National Partnership. The Pleasance is working with partner theatres across the UK to identify and support exceptional artists and companies local to them who want to take work to the Fringe. Each partner is a leading national producing house, with a commitment to supporting and developing new artists. The work is being supported by TEAM Collective Cymru and The Sherman Theatre through the Pleasance National Partnership scheme.
